Hofstra University’s Fred DeMatteis School of Engineering and Applied Science made significant strides in the 2025 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings. Among undergraduate engineering programs that do not offer doctoral degrees, the DeMatteis School now ranks No. 30 nationally, climbing an impressive 10 spots from the previous year. The undergraduate computer science programs also saw remarkable growth, jumping 17 places to rank No. 193 in the nation.

“These rankings reflect the strength of Hofstra’s commitment to STEM excellence,” said Sina Rabbany, dean of the DeMatteis School. “From our new Science & Innovation Center to the state-of-the-art GPU cluster driving AI research, our students and faculty are leading the way in cutting-edge advancements. We’re grateful for this recognition of their hard work and dedication.”

Hofstra University celebrated key advances in the 2025 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings. The University moved up 15 places to No. 103 on the list of Best Value Schools, reaffirming its commitment to delivering a high-quality education at an affordable cost. Hofstra was further recognized for its support of veterans, rising nine spots to No. 164 in the Best Colleges for Veterans rankings. Additionally, Hofstra’s overall standing is at No. 196 in the nation.
