The Giants have made a pair of roster moves ahead of their Thursday Night Football meeting with the Dallas Cowboys, adding fullback Jakob Johnson and cornerback Duke Shelley to the active roster.
Johnson has been bouncing on and off Big Blue’s roster all season since signing with the team in mid-August, and he’s already appeared in two of their three games.
The veteran fullback was waived by the team earlier this week to make room for LB Ty Summers who was out of practice squad elevations, but he re-joined them on Wednesday.
Perhaps his elevation is a sign that the Giants may be looking to establish the run against a Cowboys defense that was torched for 274 yards by the Baltimore Ravens last week.
Shelley’s activation makes a ton of sense with New York missing two key starters in their secondary, as Dru Phillips and Adoree’ Jackson are sidelined with calf injuries.
He has plenty of experience lining up in the slot and at outside cornerback throughout his five-year career spent between the Chicago Bears, Minnesota Vikings, and Los Angeles Rams.
