Liverpool youngster proves he’s FAR too good for U21 level with BRILLIANT goal

Tyler Morton proved he’s far too good for the Liverpool Under 21s with a brilliant goal against Arsenal in Premier League 2.

Tyler Morton played for Liverpool against West Ham United on Wednesday, coming on as a second-half substitute in the EFL Cup tie. He played well, too – everyone can expect to see more of him at first-team level.

But it was back to the Under 21s on Friday evening, with Morton starting against Arsenal in Premier League 2. The midfielder was playing just a few days after scoring for the youth side, too.

And then he did it again. Morton grabbed the second for Liverpool at Arsenal and it was a brilliant one.

He won the ball back on the edge of Liverpool’s defensive third and carried it all the way into Arsenal’s third. He then laid it off and got in the box.

After a couple of deflections, the ball made its way back to Morton and he fired it home – two goals in two, then.

It’s a sign that Morton is, actually, far too good for the Premier League 2 level. If you need a second sign: he assisted the first Liverpool goal from a free kick. But this all shouldn’t really be a shock.

Tyler Morton stakes his claim

Morton’s goal made him look firmly like a senior player facing a bunch of kids. He’s well above the Premier League 2 level and should be playing senior football.

He did that regularly last season, of course. Morton was at Hull City and did brilliantly in the Championship, skyrocketing his own asking price – something that essentially kept him at Liverpool this season.

The Reds face big decisions on Morton going forward, as he’s not currently playing regularly for the senior side. But he’s also just simply too good for youth level.

We hope to see Arne Slot work him into more games as Morton is undoubtedly a brilliant talent. He might just be one who can make the grade at Anfield – if given the chance.
