UAB basketball lands commitment from Hoover standout Salim London

Date:

One of the top basketball talents in the state is staying close to home.

Hoover guard Salim London announced his commitment to play basketball at UAB on Friday.

London, rated as a 4-star prospect by ESPN and 247Sports composite, is one of the highest-graded recruits the Blazers have landed; he chose UAB over offers that include Alabama, Mississippi State and James Madison.

The 6-foot-4, 185-pound guard was a first-team all-state honoree in Class 7A last season, finishing his junior campaign averaging 17.5 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists per game.

He helped lead the Buccaneers to their second straight Class 7A basketball state title.

According to 247Sports’ composite rankings, London is the second-ranked prospect in the state of Alabama’s 2025 class and the 20th-ranked shooting guard prospect in the country for the class of 2025.

He joins a 2025 high school recruiting class for UAB that includes 3-star forward Lance Carr out of Dallas, Texas.
