The Yorkshire County Cricket Club (YCCC) is delighted to announce that emerging fast bowler Alexander Wade has signed a two-year rookie contract with the county through to the end of 2026.
Wade, 17, has penned his maiden professional contract just over a fortnight after making his debut for England Under-19s.
A new ball bowler with exciting pace and a strong action, Wade was a product of Olicanian Cricket Club in Ilkley, and currently plays his league cricket for Bradford and Bingley.
Wade has come through the Yorkshire age-groups and Academy and made his second team debut earlier this summer. He helped the county’s Academy win the Under 18s County One-Day Cup at the start of this month.
Yorkshire second-team coach Tom Smith said: “This is fantastic news for Alex and reward for all his hard work.
“We’re all very excited about Alex, who is a young bowler with the potential to bowl quickly.
“He has already got close to bowling at 90mph, and he excites a lot of people – not just us at Yorkshire. He has been involved in the England Under 19s, which is a massive tick for him, the club and everybody who has worked with him.
“There’s a lot of potential for development, and we’re very fortunate that will happen here at Yorkshire.”
The Club is delighted for Alex, and we look forward to working with him to allow him to realise his potential.
