Vote now for the candidates in the Ashland Times-Gazette Athlete of the Week poll.

The performances in the poll are from September 23-28. The poll will run from 10 a.m. Monday to 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Below are some of the top performances from this past week:

Athlete of the Week candidates

Pailee Wilson, New London volleyball

In New London’s three-set win (25-19, 25-14, 25-22) over Mapleton on Tuesday, Wilson had a team-high 21 kills for the Wildcats.

Dally Meek, Hillsdale girls golf

Meek qualified for the Division II girls district tournament for the second year in a row on Wednesday at Pines Golf Club in Orrville. Meek shot an 83, which was second overall amongst individual golfers and one stroke behind sectional champion Mia Steigerwald’s 82 of East Canton.

Judah Layton, Loudonville boys golf

Layton was one of the top three individual qualifiers (top three individual qualifiers not on a qualifying team advance) to advance to this week’s Division III district tournament. Layton shot an 81 at Pleasant Valley Golf Course, joining Open Door Christian’s Will Giesbrecht (78) and Dalton’s Zach Brahler (79) as the top individual qualifiers.

Gavin Barker, Crestview football

Crestview's Gavin Barker scored three rushing touchdowns against South Central on Friday.

Crestview’s Gavin Barker scored three rushing touchdowns against South Central on Friday.

In Crestview’s 47-6 win at home on Friday over South Central, Barker rushed for three touchdowns and gathered an interception on defense for the Cougars.

Carter Bowman, Crestview boys golf

Bowman won the Division III individual sectional title on Thursday at Valley View Golf Course by shooting a 75, while also helping the Cougars win the team sectional title and advance to this week’s district tournament.
