3 West Virginia Basketball Records That May Never Be Broken

Date:

As fall begins to set in and the chaos of football season currently reigns, it’s easy to forget that basketball season is just around the corner. WVU basketball is a storied program with a rich history that evokes a lot of pride in Mountaineer fans across the state and beyond. Recently, we presented a look a look at 3 WVU football records that may never be broken — now let’s look at 3 WVU basketball records that may never be broken.

More than any other, the name Jerry West signifies basketball in Morgantown, and he owns a boatload of them, so his presence could easily dominate this list. But we’ll have some fun and show love to others who have come after him for at least a couple of these.

Also, remember that some of the records mentioned may never be broken due to many factors, and it’s not just a lack of ability or athleticism. It’s tough in this era to keep an athlete at the same school for consecutive years, not to mention all four.

As I have mentioned many times, Morgantown is not a sexy location for four-star and five-star athletes; it’s also tough to keep homegrown talent that can compete with the best in the nation. The likes of NIL (until we find a way to cap it) also play a huge role in the future of these records shivering in their sneakers.
