IND vs BAN 2nd Test: Jaiswal – Rahul help India secure historic win in Kanpur by 7 wicket | Mint

Date:

Team India secured a 7-wicket victory over Bangladesh in the second and final match of the ongoing Test series. This victory will be special for Rohit Sharma and Co for a number of reasons, not least of which is the fact that they were able to force a result in this rain-shortened match with only 2 ½ days to play.

To add icing on the cake, the Men in Blue also smashed the international records for the fastest team 50, 100, 150 and 200 runs in Test cricket. While Bazball has often been talked about on the world stage, Team India have shown that their aggressive style of play is second to none.

India vs Bangladesh 2nd Test highlights:

Only 35 overs could be played on the first day of the Test match and the next two days were washed out by rain. With most cricket pundits predicting a draw, Rohit Sharma and Co did what was once thought impossible.

On the 4th day of the match, Team India bowled out Bangladesh for 233. Captain Rohit Sharma and his left-handed opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal made an explosive start to the Indian innings and got to the 50 run mark in just 3 overs. While Rohit (23 off 11 balls) failed to capitalise on the start, Yashasvi scored 75 runs at lightning speed. Shubhman Gill (39 off 36 balls) also played his part to perfection but lost his wicket to Shakib al Hasan soon after tea. Virat Kohli (47) and KL Rahul (68) then put on a crucial partnership to take the Men in Blue past the 200-run mark, eventually declaring the innings on 285 after both openers were dismissed.

But the day was not over yet as Team India also got the chance to bowl a few overs before the end of the day’s play, where they were able to take 2 crucial wickets thanks to the crafty Ravichandran Ashwin.

The Men in Blue took their dominance to another level on day 5, bowling out the visitors for 146, leaving them just 95 runs to win with 2 sessions to spare.

In the 4th innings of the match, Team India continued their onslaught, losing wickets in quick succession but also scoring at a fast pace. The fast pace helped the Men in Blue secure victory in less than 17 overs.
