Yorkshire seamer Mickey Edwards retires aged 29 with foot injury

Date:

Yorkshire seamer Mickey Edwards has announced his retirement from cricket at the age of 29 because of a recurring foot injury.

The Australian missed almost the whole of the 2024 season after re-injuring his left foot in the County Championship match at Middlesex in April.

Edwards joined Yorkshire in February 2023 but was restricted to just four first-class appearances for the county.

“I feel at peace with my decision. I’m ready to get onto the next chapter of my life now,” he told the club website., external

“I will go home at the end of October. While I’ll still play club cricket for Manly, I haven’t got the drive for pro cricket any more.”
