Jon Rothstein gives promising Kentucky Basketball practice report

Date:

College basketball is almost here.

With Midnight Madness events starting up across the country, one insider and reporter for the sport is paying visits to watch some of the top programs heading into the season.

Jon Rothstein, an insider for CBS Sports, watched the Kentucky Wildcats practice this week and had a report that the BBN should love to hear less than a month before the start of the season.

“The Wildcats have known commodities with Jaxson Robinson, Andrew Carr, and Drexel transfer Amari Williams, but the mystery surrounding Kentucky entering 2024-25 is the type of alignment that Mark Pope uses in the Wildcat backcourt to start the season,” Rothstein said.

“There is a bevy of options at Pope’s disposal. Lamont Butler, Kerr Kriisa, Koby Brea, and Otega Oweh all look like potential starters for Pope, who has a brand-new team from last season. Kentucky looks like an NCAA Tournament team in 2025, but the makeup of the perimeter will be fascinating to watch from now until opening night on November 4.”

Obviously, hearing about the depth of the roster is nice, but hearing that this team looks like a tournament team at the moment should be music to our ears, especially after a complete rebuild.

We will have to see if they can put it together against real competition in just about a month, but at the moment, things seem to be in a good place.
