The class of 2025 is starting to take shape for both the Kentucky Wildcats on the court and on the football field. With both classes sitting in the top 25 of their respective sports, the Cats have now started to trend for a pair of 4-star players to join the programs.
First off, UK has started to gain some more momentum in the recruitment of 4-star guard Acaden Lewis.
Lewis, out of Washington (DC), burst onto the scene this summer and has narrowed his list to three blue-blood programs in Kentucky, Duke, and UCONN. He’s ranked as high as 20th overall by Rivals for the class of 2025.
Despite an official visit to Storrs and an upcoming visit to Durham, the Cats have picked up two predictions on Rivals from Richard O’Leary (with UCONN’s Rivals site) and Jackson Collier. Both placed their predictions on September 27th.
With a visit to Duke on tap for this weekend, if the Cats can maintain the momentum coming into the early part of next week, things could be looking good to score his commitment. This would add another huge recruiting win to this basketball staff’s early resume.
On the football side, the Cats have been trending for the last several months in the recruitment of 4-star tight end Mikkel Skinner.
Ranked as high as 211th nationally by 247 Sports, Skinner was previously committed to Cincinnati but has recently visited Lexington and South Carolina. The SEC duo is looking to fend off the other to land his commitment, and while the Gamecocks started gaining steam following their blowout win in Lexington earlier this season, the Cats seem to be the favorite still.
Tom Loy of 247 Sports submitted a crystal ball selection for Skinner to Kentucky this morning with a confidence level of six. He previously picked the Gamecocks to land Skinner, so this is a notable prediction.
Rivals national recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman has also changed his prediction from South Carolina to Kentucky for Skinner. Seems like that breakthrough win at No. 5 Ole Miss may have helped in this recruitment.
This recruitment still seems to have a way to go, but I wouldn’t trade the Cats position at all. Let’s see if Stoops and Marrow can close and add another talented offensive player to the class.
