Four San Jose Sharks prospects are featured on The Hockey News’ top 100 NCAA players to watch list.
While San Jose doesn’t have a prospect inside Ryan Kennedy’s top 50, having four on the list is still a good sign.
Topping the list for the Sharks is Northeastern winger Cam Lund at No. 63. The 2022 second-round pick is entering his junior season. After a 23-point freshman campaign, Lund upped his point total to 30 last season. He went from seven goals to 11.
Lund scored a hat trick against Sharks forward Will Smith and Boston College last season.
“Already established as a power forward in college, Lund bumped up his production as a sophomore and will look to do so again as a junior,” Kennedy writes.
The next Sharks prospect comes in at No. 75, Brandon Svoboda. Svoboda will attend Macklin Celebrini’s alma mater, Boston University. The centerman finished his season in the USHL with the Fargo Force and scored nine points in 15 games. He had four goals in nine playoff games as well.
Svoboda had a strong Team USA Summer Showcase and is a dark horse candidate for the 2025 Team USA World Juniors roster.

“Absolute pain to play against because he can wear you down physically and chip in some offense. Had nice World Junior Summer Showcase,” Kennedy writes.
Just three spots behind Svoboda at No. 78 is defenseman Eric Pohlkamp. Pohlkamp is one of the most exciting college prospects in the sport. After lighting up his freshman season at Bemidji State with 11 goals and 13 assists, the defenseman has transferred to the NCAA’s reigning champs, Denver University.
“Offensively inclined defenseman put up great numbers as a freshman with Bemidji State. Now, he heads to Denver to help the Pios defend their title,” Kennedy writes.
The last Sharks prospect on the list, Eli Barnett, is ranked No. 97. Barnett was picked in the 7th round of the 2022 NHL Draft. The 6’6 defenseman is starting his sophomore year at The University of Vermont.
“Towering blueliner is one of several Catamounts who won’t be fun to play against in their own end. The sophomore comes in at 6-foot-6 and 225 pounds,” Kennedy writes.
Barnett is a little more of an unknown prospect, but the defenseman’s size gives him an outside shot at making some noise in the NHL. He had five assists in 24 games and was a +6 his freshman season.
