CU women finish eighth in Carey Collegiate

Oct. 4—HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Cumberland’s women notched their best round of the Carey Collegiate shooting a 309 to finish in eighth place Tuesday.

The Phoenix totaled 951 strokes in the event for an eighth place finish. Lindsey Wilson held on to get the tournament win at 886 shots. Texas Wesleyan jumped up to second place after a 295 today. William Carey finished in third place with 893 strokes, one stroke behind Texas Wesleyan.

Matilda Lind was the top finisher for the Phoenix finishing in 29th place with 233 total strokes. Lind carded a six-over 78 in her final round. She had an eagle on par 5 hole No. 5. Lind also had two birdies with eight bogeys and one double.

Crystal Zamzow and Liza Kharaldina each tied for 39th place with each other at 241 strokes. Zamzow had the lowest round by the Phoenix all tournament today posting a 76. She fired four birdies today with six bogey and one double. Kharladina shot a 79 with one birdie, four bogeys and two doubles on her round.

Caitlyn Bilham shot a 7-over 79 as well in her final round. She finished with 242 strokes and tied for 41st place. Bilham posted a birdie on No. 8 with four bogeys and two doubles.

Franziska Mramor tied for 52nd place shooting an 87 in her final round for a total of 254 strokes. Lucy Labdon finished in 56th after shooting a 94 today. Ksenia Yakovleva shot an 85 to finish in 57th place.

The Phoenix will next take the course at the Match Play event at Gibson Bay hosted by Lindsey Wilson on Oct. 14-15.
