De Gea at the double, magical Marmoush, Barca bounce back

David de Gea was the hero for Fiorentina, saving two penalties as they claimed their second victory of the Serie A season in a chaotic encounter with AC Milan.

The Spaniard got down low to his left to save Theo Hernandez’s first-half spot-kick before superbly diving to his right to prevent Tammy Abraham’s penalty in the second period.

De Gea, 33, has now stopped two of the four penalties he has faced since signing for the Italian club in August.

Yacine Adli and Albert Gudmundsson scored for the hosts with Christian Pulisic levelling in between, in a contest that also saw Milan stopper Mike Maignan save Moise Kean’s penalty, Fiorentina boss Raffaele Palladino sent-off in the closing stages and a red card issued to Milan defender Hernandez after the final whistle.

Scott McTominay scored after 25 seconds as Napoli beat Como 3-1 to continue their fine early-season form and stay top of the Italian top flight.

Romelu Lukaku also scored for Antonio Conte’s team, sitting two points clear of second-placed Inter Milan, who beat Torino 3-2 thanks to a hat-trick from their French international forward Marcus Thuram.

Juventus conceded their first goal of the campaign as they were held to a surprise 1-1 home draw by Cagliari on Sunday.

Razvan Marin lashed home a late 88th-minute leveller from the penalty spot after Dusan Vlahovic’s first-half spot-kick had put the hosts ahead.

But Thiago Motta’s side, who were without Nicolas Gonzalez, Arkadiusz Milik, Timothy Weah and Gleison Bremer, were made to pay for a loss of intensity.

“We took our foot off the pedal after our goal, and we can’t do that. We need to keep attacking, and attack well. What happened is all our own fault,” said Motta.

Marmoush maintains rich scoring form

Eintracht Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush stole the headlines in their top-of-the-table clash against Bayern Munich.

The Egypt international scored twice, including a dramatic injury-time equaliser to secure a 3-3 draw against the Bundesliga leaders.

After struggling to make a huge impact with former club Wolfsburg, the 25-year-old is the top scorer in the German top flight and the first Frankfurt player to have ever registered eight goals at this stage of the season.

Hugo Ekitike scored the hosts’ other goal in a see-saw encounter, with Kim Min-jae, Dayot Upamecano and Michael Olise on the scoresheet for Bayern.

England captain Harry Kane was substituted in the second half after he had treatment on his right thigh.

Frankfurt sit third in the table, one point behind Bayern and second-placed RB Leipzig who won 1-0 at Heidenheim.

Meanwhile, Xabi Alonso’s 100th game in charge of reigning champions Bayer Leverkusen did not got to plan as they let a two-goal lead slip to draw against newly-promoted Holstein Kiel.

Lewandowski hat-trick helps Barcelona bounce back

Robert Lewandowski scored a first-half hat-trick as Barcelona re-established their three-point advantage at the top of La Liga with a comfortable win at Alaves.

Real Madrid’s 2-0 home victory over Villarreal on Saturday evening had temporarily moved them level with Hansi Flick’s side.

Sevilla shaded their meeting with rivals Real Betis 1-0, in which veteran 38-year-old winger Jesus Navas appeared in his 28th and final Seville derby, becoming the player with the most appearances in the fixture – one more than Betis great Joaquin.

There were also heroics from another former Premier league goalkeeper as Girona claimed a dramatic 2-1 win over Athletic Bilbao.

The one-time Tottenham and Fulham custodian Paulo Gazzaniga saved two penalties and another that had to be retaken before striker Cristhian Stuani scored the winner from the spot deep in stoppage time.

Alex Berenguer’s penalty was saved in the first half and Bilbao’s luck from the spot got worse after the break as Inaki Williams’ effort was also stopped but had to be retaken as Gazzaniga’s feet were off the line.

Ander Herrera stepped up for the retake but his effort was also prevented from going in by the Argentine.

PSG miss out on top spot as Sporting and PSV maintain 100% records

Paris St-Germain missed the chance to regain top spot in Ligue 1 from Monaco after they were held to a 1-1 draw at Nice.

Nice went ahead through a deflected strike from Tunisia full-back Ali Abdi with Nuno Mendes equalising for PSG after the break.

Monaco edged to a 2-1 win at Rennes, while Neal Maupay was dismissed as Marseille were held 1-1 at home by bottom club Angers.

Reims held on to their place in the top four on the same points as Marseille after beating Montpellier 4-2.

Liam Rosenior’s Strasbourg twice came from behind to draw 2-2 at home to Will Still’s unbeaten Lens in Alsace.

Sturm Graz thrashed Red Bull Salzburg 5-0 to head the table in the Austrian top flight from Rapid Vienna by one point.

Sporting won 2-0 against Casa Pia to maintain their 100% record in the Portuguese Primeira Liga and remain three points clear of Porto, who beat Braga 2-1.

PSV Eindhoven have also won all eight of their fixtures so far in the Dutch Eredivisie, beating Sparta Rotterdam 2-1, while Ajax, who are in fifth with two games in hand, defeated Groningen 3-1.
