MORATA SCORED IN ROSSONERI “DERBY”

The second international break came to an end on the evening of Tuesday 15 October. A day that saw a number of Rossoneri players involved around the world, starting with the Nuevo Arcángel stadium in Córdoba, where Álvaro Morata‘s Spain faced off against Strahinja Pavlović and Luka Jović‘s Serbia. It was the reigning European champions who prevailed 3-0 in the Nations League clash. The Rossoneri No.7 picked up his 37th international goal and made his way into Spanish football history: AC Milan is the fifth different team that the player has belonged to whilst scoring at least one goal for Spain when away on international duty.

Morata, who also missed a penalty before being substituted in the 78th minute, moved to within one goal of Fernando Torres for third place on Spain’s list of all-time top scorers. Pavlović had an unlucky night, being sent off for a professional foul in the 76th minute, while Jović played the second half after coming on as a half-time substitute for Joveljić. Rafael Leão also came off the bench in the 61st minute of the 0-0 draw between Scotland and Portugal in Glasgow, while Yunus Musah played the first half of Mexico’s 2-0 friendly win over the USA. Finally, Hugo Cuenca was an unused substitute in Paraguay’s 2-1 win over Venezuela in a 2026 World Cup qualifier.
