Mbappe’s entourage suspect PSG want to ‘tarnish his image’ amid Sweden trip controversy

Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe’s trip to Sweden last week after he had asked to be left out of the France squad due to fitness issues has created a huge controversy.

The French media was critical of the 25-year-old superstar for his trip while his teammates played against Israel in the UEFA Nations League – more so because he started a game for Real Madrid after his omission from the national team squad due to fitness problems.

Things took a dark turn when reports emerged claiming that the Stockholm police were investigating an alleged rape incident that took place at the hotel where Mbappe had stayed during his trip.

The Real Madrid superstar quickly came out and dismissed the reports as ‘Fake News’ while hinting that PSG and French media were behind the development ahead of his impending hearing over the €55 million unpaid wages.

Mbappe’s entourage suspect PSG involvement

Now, according to Josep Pedrerol on El Chiringuito TV, Kylian Mbappe’s entourage suspects that PSG are behind the entire controversy in a bid to ‘tarnish his image’.

The Swedish prosecutor’s office confirmed earlier this week that an investigation was indeed underway regarding a rape incident but there was no mention of Mbappe in their official document.

But given how his name has been dragged into the controversy, his entourage is suspecting foul play from PSG.

Amidst all this, Mbappe is understood to have transmitted calmness to Real Madrid.

In fact, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner’s lawyer spoke to the media and said: “He is particularly calm, but stunned by this media frenzy that he does not understand because he cannot be blamed for anything.

“Proof of this is that he trained today (with his club, Real Madrid). There is nothing that can be blamed for.”

PSG, for their part, have not issued any official comment on the matter, but did release a statement on Monday through French media, which read: “It’s a shame. We will maintain our class and our dignity.”
