Date:

Gardner-area teams competed at the MIAA golf sectionals on Tuesday.

Quabbin and Oakmont played in the Division 2 West Sectional held at Taconic Golf Club and Monty Tech took on competitors at the Div. 3 West Sectional at Wahconah Country Club.

Quabbin and Monty Tech both qualified for the sectional as a team and Oakmont sent two players to compete individually. Here’s how the Gardner area did at the sectional tournaments.

Bulldogs take home the gold

Monty Tech won big, taking home first place in Div. 3 West out of six total programs. The Bulldogs also won first place last year in the sectional and went on to place seventh out of 12 in Div. 3 states.

Ryan Hebert shot a 74, coming in first place individually. The junior earned medalist honors seven times over the regular season, leading the Bulldogs to an 8-3 record. Last season, he tied for 25th in the sectional — making a huge improvement to first a year later.
