Former Pakistan bowler, Aaqib Javed revealed in an interview about his conversation with the current Indian coach, Gautam Gambhir when they recently met in Sri Lanka.

Javed who played for Pakistan from 1988 to 1998 was a part of the country’s golden age in cricket and was highlights concerns and reasons for the downfall of Pakistan cricket.

What did Gautam Gambhir say to Aaqib Javed?

In a podcast, the 52-year-old revealed that the Indian coach talked to him during India’s Sri Lanka tour about the diminishing rivalry between India and Pakistan due to how latter’s declining form and relevance in recent years.

“I met the Indian players during their series against Bangladesh. Gambhir talked to me and said, Aaqib bhai, what is happening with Pakistan cricket? You have so much talent, what are they doing? Even they [Indians] feel bad because, you know, there aren’t many teams,” he said.

“The Pakistan-India matches, which is the biggest rivalry have lost their charm and even they [Indians] are worried about it and even ICC laughs at us,” Javed concluded.

Aaqib Javed has represented Pakistan for 163 ODIs and 22 Tests and scalped 236 international wickets in his career.
