Wonderkid could steal Szoboszlai’s role

Trey Nyoni put pen to paper on his first professional deal with Liverpool earlier in the week.

The 17-year-old joined the Reds a little over a year ago, rejecting advances from elsewhere to make the move to Anfield from Leicester City. At the time, it was viewed as a coup for Liverpool. If Nyoni fulfils his potential, he could be one of the best in the world.

People think that highly of the youngster.

He made his debut for Liverpool last season in the FA Cup against Southampton and was heavily involved in pre-season under new boss Arne Slot.

After a few years with the iconic Nike tick on their shirts Liverpool are expected to reprise their relationship with Adidas.

And with a new sponsor comes new Liverpool kit designs, with fans hopeful of a nostalgic feel about next year’s releases.

In and amongst spells with the iconic Adidas stripes on the shirt, Liverpool have flirted with Reebok, Warrior and Umbro as shirt sponsors, with each announcement initially fuelled by excitement before fans begin to yearn for change.

And that’s exactly what has happened with Nike over the past five seasons, after delivering some fun designs with bold colours before nostalgia caught back up.

Rio Ngumoha has been called up to the England U17 squad for their European Championships qualifiers later this month, but it’s not all good news.

The 16-year-old has made an impressive start to life at Liverpool, wowing fans with his quick footwork and attacking intensity in his few games for the Under-18s side, grabbing his first assist in his second appearance, away to Leeds United.

Ngumoha’s transfer to Liverpool was a real statement of intent by Sporting Director Richard Hughes, who wants the club to be a destination for the best young talent in the country.

Ngumoha is also already being tipped to appear in the first team squad sooner rather than later, following in the footsteps of Trey Nyoni, who was on the bench for the Reds’ recent Champions League win against Bologna.

While his call-up to the England U17 squad is undoubtedly a positive for Ngumoha, it means he will miss some crucial games for the Reds.

Head coach Arne Slot admits he may have made a mistake when it comes to Alisson.

The Brazilian goalkeeper picked up his second injury of the season during Liverpool’s 1-0 win against Crystal Palace before the international break. He now won’t be available until after the November break.

This means that Caoimhin Kelleher will be between the sticks for at least the next seven games, giving the Irishman another extended run in the squad following his productive spell last season.

Before his arrival at Anfield, Alisson had missed just five games in his six-year career, however since he made the move, he has missed 50 games for club and country. This reoccurring problem could become a significant issue.

Legends saving local hospice

A number of Liverpool legends have joined a campaign to save a vital children’s hospice.

Zoe’s Place, which has offered palliative and end-of-life care for babies and young children at its Yew Tree Lane centre in West Derby since 1995, shocked the city last week with the announcement that it will be closing its doors permanently.

The charity’s lease on its current site is set to expire next year, and it revealed that time has run out to raise the necessary funds for a new location. However, the heartbreaking news has triggered an overwhelming wave of support, with people across Merseyside rallying together to try and save the facility.

A city-wide campaign was launched to raise £5m to help try and fund a new site for the charity. Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has pledged his support to the campaign and shared an emotional video with the Liverpool Echo.

Klopp’s final warning

It’s no secret that Jurgen Klopp HATED a 12:30 kick-off.

The former Liverpool manager often spoke about his disdain for the early slot on a Saturday, and towards the end of his time in charge, grew more and more frustrated with TV companies and the Premier League’s insistence on scheduling games early on a Saturday, especially after international breaks.

That anger was driven not only by Klopp’s poor record in early games, but also by his concerns for player welfare amidst injury problems caused by a packed fixture list.

The Premier League differs from many other European divisions in that it tends not to give extra days off to teams competing in Europe – something Klopp blamed for English teams’ underperformances last season.

Now it seems one of his last warnings is coming true, as early Saturday games have come back to bite the Reds again.

The international break is finally over and the Reds are back at AXA to prepare for their next game against Chelsea.

Its been a busy week away for Arne Slot’s side with many players jetting off across the globe playing for their country. However some players had a busy week in their personal lives.

First Curtis Jones and his partner Saffie Khan welcomed their first baby girl Giselle Delilah Jones then Dominik Szoboszlai got engaged to his partner 23-year-old Hungarian influencer Borka Buzsik.

And as always Andy Robertson was on hand to congratulate the Hungarian on his recent engagement.
