LSU Basketball extends a scholarship offer to the son of an LSU Icon

Date:

The LSU Basketball program has been running hot on the recruiting trail as Matt McMahon currently holds the Nation’s second best recruiting class according to 24/7 Sports. The Tigers have landed three top 100 recruits in Matt Gilhool, Mazi Mosley, and Jalen Reece which will go a long way in Matt McMahon’s turnaround of the program.

The Tigers have started to extend scholarship offers to recruits beyond the 2025 recruiting class and they made an incredible scholarship offer on Friday.

LSU offered a scholarship to Marcus Spears Jr the son of LSU defensive standout Marcus Spears Sr.

There aren’t recruiting rankings for the 2027 recruiting class yet, but Spears plays for the big time High School Basketball school Prolific Prep. As a Sophomore, Spears is already 6 foot 7 and will be a Small or Power Forward at the next level.

Marcus Spears Sr originally came to LSU to play Football and Basketball before settling on football. During his time at LSU Spears played defensive end as well as fullback and tight end early on before becoming a full-time defensive lineman. Spears finished his career as a Two-Time All-SEC player, a Consensus All American, and a BCS National Champion.

The offer must mean a ton for both father and son and while it’s early in Spears Jr’s recruitment, it would be incredible to see Marcus Spears Jr sporting the Purple and Gold.
