Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi feels that Davide Frattesi and Stefan de Vrij were “gigantic” off the bench against Roma.
The Nerazzurri coach hailed the duo for their substitute appearances in this evening’s 1-0 Serie A win speaking to InterTV, via FCInterNews.
It was hardly a surprise to see the likes of Davide Frattesi and Stefan de Vrij take to the pitch for Inter this evening against Roma.
However, the fact that they played as much as they did would not have been expected.
Neither Frattesi nor de Vrij were in the Inter starting eleven. However, both came off the bench in the first half. They replaced Hakan Calhanoglu and Francesco Acerbi respectively after early injuries.
This was a difficult position for both Frattesi and de Vrij to be in.
Both would certainly have prepared for the possibility of coming on as impact substitutes in the second half.
But neither would have expected to play most of the match.
Inter Coach Inzaghi Hails “Gigantic” Frattesi & De Vrij Performances
After the match, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi said that “It was a tough, hard-fought match.”
“In the first half it was tight, because both teams felt the importance of the match.”
“We won on a tough away ground,” the inter coach said.
Inzaghi added that “The substitutes did very well.”
“I’m thinking of de Vrij and Frattesi who had to warm up quickly and take to the pitch, and played a gigantic match,” the Nerazzurri coach said.
Meanwhile, Inzaghi also addressed the injuries to the likes of Calhanoglu and Acerbi.
“Let’s hope they aren’t major problems,” the Inter coach said.
“We have Zielinski and Asllani who are still recovering back home,” he added. “And then Buchanan who’ll return soon.”
“We have to try and get them all back, because I’ll need everyone,” Inzaghi said.
