Inter say Hakan Calhanoglu suffered a ‘strain in the adductors of his left thigh’ and according to Sky Sport Italia, he and Francesco Acerbi will likely miss Sunday’s game against Juventus.
Calhanoglu and Acerbi suffered muscle injuries in the first half of Inter’s 1-0 win over Roma on Sunday night.
The Nerazzurri released a medical update on the Turkish midfielder, who had undergone medical tests in the morning.
“Hakan Calhanoglu underwent an MRI scan this morning at the Humanitas Clinical Institute in Rozzano following his substitution in yesterday’s match against Roma. The tests revealed a strain in the adductors of his left thigh,” Inter said in a statement.
Sky: Inter stars Calhanoglu and Acerbi ‘90% out’ against Juventus
“His condition will be monitored on a day-to-day basis.”
According to Sky Sport Italia correspondents Matteo Barzaghi and Andrea Paventi, Acerbi has been diagnosed with the same injury.
This means both players will miss Wednesday’s Champions League game against Young Boys and are in serious doubt for the next Serie A match against Juventus on October 27.
Barzaghi wrote on X, formerly Twitter, that Calhanoglu and Acerbi “are 90% out” of the Juventus match.
Kristjan Asllani also missed today’s training and won’t be available against Young Boys, while Piotr Zielinski partially trained with the rest of the team on Monday and could be eligible for the next game.
Simone Inzaghi will likely provide official fitness updates at a pre-match press conference on Tuesday.
