Syracuse basketball is a front-runner for 5-star Alex Constanza, whose visit went ‘great’

Date:

Alex Constanza, an elite high school prospect from Florida, took an official visit this past weekend to Syracuse basketball, and he was joined by his family.

According to his dad, Ed Constanza, their trip to the Hill went quite well. By the way, Ed is just an all-around wonderful human being, and I always appreciate his candor when we chat.

His son, the 6-foot-8 Alex Constanza, is a five-star guard/small forward out of the Westminster Academy in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. He’s rated as high as No. 10 nationally in the 2026 class by Rivals.com, and the industry-generated 247Sports Composite places Constanza at No. 11 overall in this cycle.

Constanza “really enjoyed the visit and had an opportunity to really connect with the coaching staff as well as some of the players. … definitely a great visit, great staff and environment,” his dad says.

The Orange offered a scholarship to Constanza back in mid-January of this year, which I first reported. His lead ‘Cuse recruiter, assistant coach Allen Griffin, was in attendance not too long ago to watch Constanza during an open gym at Westminster amid the fall recruiting period.

In late August, Constanza took an unofficial visit to Miami. His dad says that his son is eyeing possible upcoming visits to other suitors such as Illinois, Baylor and Florida State, among others. “We have been very focused on ensuring we visit the places that fit his style of play and have the opportunities and development that can allow him to continue to be successful and win,” Ed Constanza says.

Now, the topic of a potential reclassification by Alex Constanza is definitely being discussed by ‘Cuse fans in chat rooms and on social media in recent days. To that end, a move by Constanza to the 2025 class is under consideration, his dad says, although I don’t think a final decision has been made either way.

Currently, Constanza holds around 30 scholarship offers, and that list is growing. Other top programs such as Kentucky are also reportedly showing an interest in him.

There was a recent post on X from the account of Nic Thomas, who is the founder of the Draftstack. That post stated in part that Syracuse basketball is the front-runner at this juncture in Constanza’s recruitment.

I asked his dad about this, and he confirmed that the Orange is the front-runner, at least for the time being. Other top schools for Constanza these days include Baylor, Florida State and Miami, his dad says.

I’ll stay in touch with Ed Constanza regarding the recruiting process and possible reclass of his son, who was an All-American at Westminster in the 2023-24 season.
