With Folarin Balogun, Mohammed Salisu, Edan Diop and Mamadou Coulibaly all absent, two prospects feature in an AS Monaco UEFA Champions League squad for the first time.
Speaking in the wake of Balogun’s injury, Adi Hütter said that he would not necessarily dip into the club’s prestigious La Diagonale academy for a replacement. However, he did reveal the two players that he believed to be closest to making a breakthrough into the first team.
Bouabré and Michal feature in Monaco Youth League game
“For me, (Lucas) Michal and (Saïmon) Bouabré are the next talents that can follow the same path as Eliesse (Ben Seghir) and Maghnes (Akliouche),” said the Monaco manager in a press conference, attended by Get French Football News.
Michal and Bouabré have now, for the first time, been included in a Champions League matchday squad for Les Monégasques. The chances of seeing the pair feature against Crvena Zvezda at the Stade Louis II on Tuesday night is, however, remote. Both started in the UEFA Youth League fixture against the Serbian side at the club’s performance centre in La Turbie earlier in the day. That game ended in a 1-1 draw.
