SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) – Notre Dame basketball star Hannah Hidalgo’s accolades continue to grow as we approach the start of the 2024-25 college hoops season.
On Tuesday, the sophomore was named a preseason All-American by the Associated Press. The honor comes after she was picked last week as the preseason ACC player of the year.
Last year as a freshman, Hidalgo averaged 22.6 points, 6.2 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 4.6 steals per game. Her 22.6 points per game was a Notre Dame record, and she broke both the steals/game and total steals Irish records while leading the country in steals.
Hidalgo earned first team AP All-America honors last year alongside fellow freshman JuJu Watkins from USC, becoming the fourth and fifth freshmen in history to be named to the first team.
She’s joined on this year’s preseason team by Watkins, UConn’s Paige Bueckers, Madison Booker of Texas and Kiki Iriafen of USC.
The Notre Dame women’s basketball team, which earned a No. 6 ranking in the preseason AP Top 25 poll, begins its season on Nov. 4 with a home matchup against Mercyhurst.
