The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday that they discovered Vernon Flowers Jr., the man missing for almost a month.
The ECSO says 69-year-old “Bubba” Flowers Jr.’s body was discovered and law enforcement notified his immediate family. Department spokesperson Morgan Lewis said it is now the medical examiner’s case.
It does not appear any foul play was involved in Flowers’ death.

On Oct. 14, the ECSO initiated a Local Purple Alert for Flowers after he was last seen on the 5500 block of Perkins Street on Sept. 28, saying he likely needed medical attention.
The Florida Purple Alert is used to assist in the location of missing adults suffering from a mental or cognitive disability that is not Alzheimer’s disease or a dementia-related disorder; an intellectual disability or a developmental disability; a brain injury; other physical, mental or emotional disabilities that are not related to substance abuse; or a combination of any of these and whose disappearance poses a credible threat of immediate danger or serious bodily harm.
