Fiorentina confirm Gudmundsson injury diagnosis

Fiorentina have confirmed the result of tests on the Albert Gudmundsson muscular injury, which should keep him out for at least a month.

The Iceland international limped off in the opening minutes of their Serie A match at the weekend, where they thrashed 10-man Lecce 6-0.

They had to wait several days to undergo the necessary tests, waiting for the swelling to go down.

A statement released this afternoon confirms that Gudmundsson has been diagnosed with a Grade I/II lesion to the myotendinous junction in femoral bicep of the right thigh.

The player has already begun the treatment process with the club’s medical staff.

This type of injury generally requires at least four to six weeks on the sidelines, so he could miss quite a few games between Serie A, the Conference League and Coppa Italia.

The 27-year-old had a very strong start to his career at Fiorentina since the move from Genoa, scoring three goals in five appearances between Serie A and the UEFA Conference League.
