Police provide update on 13-year-old boy’s death at Haunted Hayride

The 13-year-old who was tragically killed in St. Augusta at the Harvest of Horror Hayride was a volunteer scare actor for the event, according to police.

Stearns County Sheriff’s Office provided a Tuesday update on its investigation into the death of Alexander Mick, of Rice, who was volunteering at the Haunted Hayride in St. Augusta.

Per police, his job was to frighten riders being pulled through the cornfield area, but on Oct. 12, he was run over by a trolley wagon being pulled by a tractor.

Staff and bystanders at the event, including an off-duty police officer and an off-duty medic, immediately went to him to provide medical aid while the police arrived.

Responders including police and paramedics continued lifesaving efforts, but Mick was pronounced dead at the scene.

In its update on Tuesday, the sheriff’s according to the investigation so far, his death is believed to be accidental.
