The world’s most expensive breed of dog – bred specifically to protect humans – will be making an appearance at an exclusive event in Beverly Hills on Wednesday night.
How to Keep Your Home & Family Safe in L.A. is an event hosted by the Young Presidents’ Organization, and is billed as a seminar where members and their partners can learn how to safeguard their homes and families from harm.
Dr. Jason Halbert, a behavioral scientist and former executive at Snap Inc. (the parent company of Snapchat), and Nathan Hochmann, a candidate for Los Angeles County District Attorney, will speak at Wednesday’s event.
Also in attendance will be Kim Greene, an ex-policy adviser supporting former Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai who worked with the United Nations on reintegrating ex-combatants. She is also the founder and CEO of Svalinn, a company that exclusively breeds, raises and trains protection dogs at a ranch in Livingston, Montana.
Los Angeles Times won’t endorse Harris for president — or Trump
The company, which Greene founded while living in Kenya in 2005, states that they have bred and trained over 300 dogs with “a specific mix of the most desirable characteristics from very old bloodlines” that are in service worldwide. Svalinn dogs are a mix of a German Shepherd, a Dutch Shepherd and a Belgian Malinois.
Three of the dogs will be in attendance at the event.
“Many so-called ‘protection’ dogs are trained for competitions…we aren’t interested in sports or games,” Svalinn’s website says. “Our focus is developing loving and faithful companion dogs that are also exceptional deterrents to a would-be threat, and instant protectors should you or your family ever be in imminent danger.”
Orange County supervisor resigns, will plead guilty to corruption charge
Svalinn only sells fully trained adults ages 2 ½ to 3 ½ years old. They cost a pretty penny — around $150,000 to be exact — but that’s because customers are paying for “guaranteed peace of mind,” according to the company.
More information on Svalinn can be found here.
The Young Presidents’ Organization is an organization made up of over 35,000 chief executives from around the world.
The event comes amid an uptick in crime in the Los Angeles area; data released this year by law enforcement officials indicates that property crime climbed 3.5% between 2022 and 2023, while a separate report states that Los Angeles had one of the highest homicide rates in California last year.
