Striking employees vote on Boeing’s latest contract offer

STORY: :: Striking workers vote on the latest Boeing contract proposal

:: October 23, 2024

:: Renton, Washington

:: Melissa S.

Boeing manufacturing expediter

“I voted no, and I’m feeling like they’re continually trying to give us the bare minimum, and it’s ridiculous. We all have families to feed. That’s how I feel.”

:: Romeo Lem

Boeing intake sealer

“I’m not really liking it so far, you know? I mean, there’s some things that are better, like the wage increase // that’s really it, honestly. Like, our medical costs have rose up and there’s no pension.”

:: Manuel Munoz

Boeing intake mechanic

“I so voted to reject the contract just because I feel like I would like a larger gross wage increase. // As of right now, I think, I think we have the upper hand on Boeing and it’s good to just keep looking for something better.”

Workers lined up to cast ballots near the 737 MAX production facility in Renton before the vote started at 8 a.m. PDT (1500 GMT). The ballot, which closes at 5 p.m., will offer workers the choice to either accept or reject the deal with a simple 50%+1 majority needed to decide the result. If it passes the strike ends.
