After placing third as a ninth-grader and runner-up a year ago, Eagan junior Cassandra Li is again in contention for an individual state tennis title.

The fourth-seeded Li moved into the Class 2A singles semifinals with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Edina’s Rashi Singh on Thursday at Baseline Tennis Center.

She’ll meet top-seeded Claire Loftus of Rochester Mayo back on the U campus at 8 a.m. Friday, with the winner advancing to the 11:30 a.m. final. Rochester Mayo’s Aoife Loftus and Elk River’s Ava Nelson will meet in the other semi.

Hastings’ Brooklyn and Reese Keller are into the doubles semifinals after they upset the No. 3 seed, Maple Grove’s Maddie Larsen and Summer Ode, 6-0, 1-6, 6-4 in the second round. They’ll meet second-seeded Astrid Kerrman and Raya Hou of Edina in the semis.

Rochester Mayo’s Malea Diehn and Keely Ryder — the No. 1 seed — will meet the fourth-seeded duo from Mounds View, Rory and Reese Wahlstrand. The Mustangs’ tandem won a three-set thriller in the second round Thursday.
