Real Madrid Set Sights on PSG’s Summer Target to Boost Squad

This past summer, Paris Saint-Germain was linked to various center-backs to bolster their backline; one of them was veteran Aymeric Laporte.

El Chiringuito’s José Álvarez Haya reported that PSG are in the mix with Atlético Madrid and Real Madrid for the Spanish player. The Parisians seemed particularly interested because manager Luis Enrique had the player when he was with Spain’s national team.

MARCA’s José Félix Díaz also reported that Laporte wants to return to Europe and that Spain is his ideal destination. While PSG have a transfer strategy of pursuing young players who’ve yet to scratch their potential

Real Madrid are keeping an eye on Aymeric Laporte as a potential boost for their defense, especially after losing Nacho Fernández and Rafa Marín in the summer transfer window, reports Diario AS (h/t Fichajes).

With no clear replacement brought in, Carlo Ancelotti has started the season relying on Antonio Rüdiger and Eder Militao as his main central defenders, with Jesús Vallejo as the only backup—though he hasn’t earned the manager’s complete trust.

Laporte joined Al-Nassr last summer and before leaving for Saudi Arabia, the veteran defender spent time with Athletic Club from 2012 to 2018 and then moved to Manchester City, where he played from 2018 to 2023. Once his time with the Premier League was over, the defender went to Al-Nassr.
