Kansas Drops Charity Exhibition Contest to Arkansas, 85-69 – University of Kansas

Date:

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – In a charity fundraising exhibition contest that benefits mental health providers and charities within each school’s footprint, No. 16 Arkansas defeated No. 1 Kansas 85-69 at Bud Walton Arena Nolan Richardson Court on Friday night in front of a sold-out crowd of 19,200.

“Arkansas is really talented,” said Head Coach Bill Self. “They got a good team. There are some things that we can improve on. We didn’t try to do anything tricky but the way we have been practicing for a long time, it did not resemble that without Hunter (Dickinson) out there.”

Graduate guard Dajuan Harris Jr. led all scorers with 26 points on 11-of-17 (64.7 percent) shooting, including a 4-for-5 (80.0 percent) clip from beyond the arc.

As a team, Kansas shot 45.3 percent (29-of-64) from the floor and 30.4 percent (7-of-23) from beyond the arc. Arkansas shot 48.3 percent (28-of-58) from the floor and 25.0 percent (6-of-24) from beyond the arc. The Jayhawks were led by 26 points from Harris, 11 points from freshman Rakease Passmore and nine points from senior KJ Adams Jr. David Coit dished out three assists and Flory Bidunga pulled down seven boards to go with his six points. Transfers AJ Storr (eight points) and Zeke Mayo (seven points) also made their Jayhawk debuts.
