The Jets officially activated Haason Reddick to the active roster ahead of their Week 8 game against the New England Patriots.
In a corresponding move, the team released veteran DL Takk McKinley. New York also elevated OL Alec Lindstrom and DB Jarius Monroe from the practice squad for Sunday’s 1 p.m. contest.
After holding out due to a contract dispute and missing the first seven games of the season, Reddick is set to make his team debut. Interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich said Friday there will not be a snap-count limit for Reddick, who “had a good week of work with us” and “really put the extra time in to learn” the team system.
McKinley, a former first-round pick by the Atlanta Falcons in 2017, made the Jets 53-man roster after joining mandatory minicamp as a tryout player. Over seven games and 130 snaps with New York, he recorded nine tackles and 0.5 sacks.
He played four seasons with Atlanta through the 2020 season, followed by stints with the Cleveland Browns in 2021 and Los Angeles Rams in 2022. McKinley did not play during the 2023 season.
Additionally, the Jets downgraded TE Kenny Yeboah and safety Tony Adams to out for Sunday’s game. Ulbrich said Friday that Adams (hamstring) was a game-time decision, but added he was “doubtful” the veteran would be able to play. New York will be down two safeties for the division matchup, as Ashtyn Davis (concussion protocol) was already ruled out.
