Purdue basketball great Zach Edey wastes little time making NBA 3-pointers

It took more than 3 1/2 college seasons for Purdue basketball all-time great Zach Edey to make a 3-pointer.

It took him 3 games to make one in the NBA.

The No. 9 overall draft pick of the Memphis Grizzlies knocked down a 3 from the right corner Saturday night in a 124-111 victory over the Orlando Magic. It’s his only attempt so far, so at 100%, he’s at least tied for the league lead in 3-point percentage.

Edey scored 7 points. He’s averaging 8.3 points and 5.0 rebounds, and he has already compiled 14 fouls in 51 minutes of action.

Edey’s only college 3-pointer came in a victory over Indiana as a senior.
