Reports: Jaguars WR Christian Kirk out for season with broken collarbone in loss to Packers

Date:

Christian Kirk’s season is over.

The Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver sustained a broken collarbone in their 30-27 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday afternoon, according to multiple reports. That will knock him out for the rest of the season.

Kirk went down in the fourth quarter of their loss to the Packers at Everbank Stadium while trying to catch a deep pass from Trevor Lawrence in the middle of the field. Kirk barely missed the catch, and he landed directly on his left side as he hit the ground.

Kirk immediately reached for his shoulder, clearly in a lot of pain, and the Jaguars quickly ruled him out for the rest of the game. He was seen in a sling as he left the stadium, too.

Kirk had two catches for 59 yards when he left the game on Sunday. He’ll finish the season with 379 yards and a touchdown on 27 catches.

Kirk is in his third season with the Jaguars this fall. The 27-year-old is in the third year of a four-year, $72 million deal with the team. He had been the subject of trade rumors in recent weeks, too, but his injury will likely end that ahead of the deadline next month.

Trevor Lawrence went 21-of-32 for 208 yards with two touchdowns and an interception in the loss for the Jaguars, which dropped them to just 2-6 on the season. They tied the game up just inside the two minute warning after Lawrence hit Evan Engram for a 14-yard score, too, but the Packers mounted a game-winning drive capped by a 24-yard field goal from Brandon McManus.

The Jaguars will take on the Philadelphia Eagles next week in Pennsylvania.
