Earlier this month, Football Insider reported that Liverpool joined the race to sign Palmeiras’ rising star, Vitor Reis, though their main focus remains reinforcing their central defense.
The report adds that Reis is keen on a move to Europe and hopes to play in the Champions League. However, Palmeiras is set on keeping him for now.
ESPN Brazil also noted interest from Manchester United, Arsenal, and Paris Saint-Germain. With Reis under contract until December 2028 and a substantial €100M release clause, a quick transfer seems unlikely.
Instead, top clubs are expected to keep a close eye on the Brazilian defender’s progress this season.
Arsenal and Chelsea take the edge in the Vitor Reis race
On Monday, TBR Football reported that Arsenal and Chelsea are monitoring a promising Brazilian defender. The report adds that several Premier League clubs were in Brazil over the weekend, with particular attention on Palmeiras’ match against Fortaleza in São Paulo.
Chelsea had representatives in town, partly to monitor their future signing Estevao, who scored from the penalty spot in the 2-2 draw. They were also scouting Reis, a player they highly regard.
Arsenal and Liverpool, who have been tracking Reis for much of this year, were also at Allianz Parque, probably focusing on him as they continued their evaluations.
