STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Tarleton State Men’s Basketball opened its final season in Wisdom Gym with an exhibition victory over UT Tyler, 65-56.
The Texans opened their final season in Wisdom Gym in front of a loud and lively crowd on Monday night. The Purple and White will play 13 regular season home games in the Wisdom Gym this season, including five in the months of November and December. The new event center is set to be the home of Texan Basketball in the 2025-26 season
Tarleton will compete against its toughest schedule in its Division I era, facing six Power Four conference programs all on the road. The 2024-25 squad will travel to the Baha Mar Hoops Nassau Championship over Thanksgiving weekend. The Texans will play seven of their first 10 contests on the road.
In the first half, the Texans opened early with the first five points of the contest. The Texans opened on a 12-3 run. Tarleton controlled the momentum in the first half, ultimately taking a lead at the break, 41-21.
The Texans maintained their lead in the second half. UT Tyler comeback was not enough as the Purple and White ultimately took the victory, 65-56.
Tarleton will begin the regular season on the road for the fourth consecutive season and the first time in the state of Texas. The Texans will make the less than two-hour trip to Dallas to take on the SMU Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 4.
