According to Sky Germany, Bayern Munich are looking to loan out Mathys Tel this January.
Having registered ten goals and four assists in all competitions last season—as well as signing a new deal at the Allianz Arena until 2029 in March—it had appeared as though Tel would be set to become a more permanent feature in the Bayern squad this season under Vincent Kompany.
On top of this, it became clear that the Frenchman was being considered as one of the future faces of Bayern, with senior figures at the club, such as Max Eberl, stating his importance to the team:
“He is an important building block for the future of this team; with him, we already have the next generation of FC Bayern in our squad. Mathys came to Munich as a young player, and at 18 years old, he has already gained important experience at the highest level. He will make a lot of impressions—here, at FC Bayern.”
Nevertheless, this season has been one to forget for Tel so far; with just 179 minutes of football under his belt, the 19-year-old has been unable to record a single goal involvement.
This has left Der Rekordmeister looking to loan out their young attacking star, despite the fact that Tel wants to stay and fight for his place in Kompany’s side.
It is understood that Werder Bremen and Borussia Mönchengladbach are two of the clubs that have enquired about Tel’s availability in January.
As of yet, it is unknown where the Frenchman’s future lies, but should he continue to remain on the Bayern bench, then a short-term departure from the club could be Tel’s best option for his long-term development.
