MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – The GLIAC released its preseason men‘s basketball poll Thursday, which was voted on by the league’s coaches.
After winning the conference regular season championship in 2023-24, Northern Michigan was picked to finish third behind Lake Superior State and Ferris State.
Michigan Tech was picked sixth, garnering 50 votes after an 8-10 record in conference play last season.

Michigan Tech guard Marcus Tomashek also earned Preseason Player of the Year honors. Tomashek is coming off an impressive sophomore season, when he finished sixth in the country in scoring with 22.9 points per game. Tomashek is one of four Huskies returners who made at least 17 starts last year.
Reigning GLIAC Coach of the Year Matt Majkrzak only returns six players who saw minutes last season for the Wildcats, including preseason all-GLIAC first team selection Dylan Kuehl.
Both teams open the 2024-25 season in Wisconsin Dells, Wis. on Nov. 8.
