Arsenal Set to Pursue £84M Deal for PSG, Tottenham-Linked Ace

In September, CaughtOffside reported that Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, and Paris Saint-Germain are competing for Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyökeres.

The report indicates that Tottenham are currently leading the chase for Gyökeres, while Chelsea see him as a secondary option, focusing on a potential bid for Victor Osimhen in January or next summer.

PSG are also keeping an eye on Gyökeres, aided by their strong relationship with Sporting. However, CaughtOffside notes that any possible transfer hinges on whether the club decides to sell Gonçalo Ramos or Randal Kolo Muani after this season, which remains uncertain.

Florian Plettenberg from Sky Sports Germany adds that Gyökeres has a release clause of €100 million, but there’s an agreement for him to leave Sporting CP next summer for between €60 million and €70 million.

While a transfer this winter isn’t expected, a move next summer appears quite probable. In England, clubs like Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea are especially interested in the 26-year-old striker.

TEAMTalk reported on Friday that Gyökeres has become a top target for the Gunners, especially after Manchester United’s recent move to bring Sporting CP’s manager to Old Trafford, which has significantly changed his situation.

Arsenal are very eager to bring in a top-notch striker in the upcoming transfer windows, but they’re hesitant to overspend in January.

They might hold off on making official moves until the end of the season when they’d be more prepared to invest the £84 million needed to sign Gyökeres from Portugal.
