Hellas Verona vs. Roma – Serie A: Match Preview & Predicted Lineups

The capital club aim for their first two-game winning streak of the season on Sunday.

Roma journey to Veneto in search of consecutive league wins for the first time in 2024/25.

Under significant pressure to secure victory and reignite their campaign for top four—they’ll meet a struggling Hellas Verona at the Stadio Bentegodi on Sunday evening.

Meanwhile, the hosts find themselves barely above the relegation zone, with points at a premium as they strive to maintain their top flight status. Both sides will enter the contest fully aware of the implications the game holds for their respective objectives.

The match is scheduled to kick-off at 18.00 CET on Sunday in Verona.

Roma

After a turbulent run of form, the capital club finally stopped the hemorrhaging of points on Thursday thanks to their win over Torino.

Just their second win in five games, the Giallorossi were again haunted by their goalscoring struggles—scoring just once against the Granata. Through ten rounds, Roma have among the worst attacks in Serie A with only 10 goals scored.

The absence of influential wide players has disrupted their attacking flow. Although their recent win offered a glimpse of their potential, they need to produce consistent performances to stay competitive in the race for a top-four spot.

”Verona is a very difficult team to face in an extremely difficult stadium. They have technical players, they are hungry to win,” Juric stated prior to the match.

”In order to show we’re a good team, we need to take everything one game at a time. If we don’t get a result in Verona, the victory against Torino counts for little.”

The visitors will be without wide-man Alexis Saelemaekers, who continues to recover from an ankle injury. Additionally, Mario Hermoso’s suspension forces a reshuffle in Roma’s defence—Gianluca Mancini, Evan Ndicka, and Angeliño likely to form the back three.

Meanwhile, top scorer Artem Dovbyk is available after missing out Thursday due to illness.

Verona

A string of inconsistent results has placed Verona in a precarious position near the bottom of the table, just one point above the relegation zone.

The hosts have lost six of their previous seven games despite an impressive opening day victory over Napoli to start their season. They’ve struggled to maintain defensive solidity and boast the worst defensive record in Serie A with 22 goals conceded in 10 games.

Despite his side’s struggles, manager Paolo Zanetti is optimistic his team can give the Giallorossi trouble.

“Tomorrow I am convinced that Verona will play a great match,” Zanetti told reporters during his pre-match press conference.

“We must give 100%, maybe even more, against a team that deserves the Champions League. Right now, we aren’t on the same level [as Roma]—perhaps we’re not even safe from relegation even though we were a month ago.”

In team news, Verona have a few pressing injury concerns, with Juan Cruz, Pawel Dawidowicz, and Martin Frese unavailable. They will also be without right back Jackson Tchatchoua and midfielder Reda Belahyane, both serving suspensions.

Predicted Lineups

VERONA (4-2-3-1): Montipò; Daniliuc, Magnani, Ghilardi, Bradaric; Serdar, Duda; Suslov, Tengstedt, Lazovic; Sarr

ROMA (3-4-2-1): Svilar; Mancini, Ndicka, Angelino; Celik, Konè, Pisilli, Zalewski; Dybala, Pellegrini; Dovbyk
