Shelton Henderson is the fourth player to join Duke basketball’s 2025 recruiting class

Henderson, a five-star prospect from Bellaire, Texas, announced his commitment to the Blue Devils on Saturday afternoon. The 6-foot-6, 220-pound small forward picked Duke over finalists Louisville and Texas.

“They see me coming in making an impact as a freshman, so that’s what I want to do,” Henderson said on the 247Sports YouTube channel.

Henderson joins Cameron and Cayden Boozer, along with Nikolas Khamenia, as the four players currently in head coach Jon Scheyer’s top-ranked recruiting class.

Here’s a breakdown of what Henderson brings to the Blue Devils and what’s next for Duke’s 2025 recruiting class:

Shelton Henderson scouting report

A consensus top-25 recruit and the top-ranked player in Texas, Henderson started garnering national attention in June 2023 as a top-100 recruit. Known for his physicality as a scorer, defender and rebounder, Henderson averaged 21.6 points, 7.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 2.9 steals and 1.4 blocks per game as a junior at Bellaire High School. He looks the part as a high-level, two-way player. His build and game should allow him to be an instant contributor in Durham.

With the Boozer twins and Khamenia announcing their commitments to Duke in October, the Blue Devils have a quartet of top-25 prospects set to join the 2025-26 roster. That’s a solid start for Scheyer, who is likely to lose a bulk of this season’s roster to the NBA.

Looking ahead, Nate Ament is among the other high-profile prospects considering Duke as a possible destination. A 6-foot-9 forward and top-five recruit, Ament is considered the No. 4 player nationally, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. He was on campus for Countdown to Craziness in early October.
