NEW DELHI: Ravindra Jadeja claimed five wickets in New Zealand’s second innings on Sunday, completing a remarkable 10-wicket haul (10/120) in the third and final Test of the series at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.
Having also taken five wickets in New Zealand’s first innings, Jadeja’s performance in this match marked his second-best figures in Test cricket, just shy of his 10/110 against Australia in Delhi in 2023.
This is the first time in his career that Jadeja has taken a five-wicket haul in both innings.
His first-innings five-fer provided India with an early advantage, and his second-innings performance maintained relentless pressure on the New Zealand lineup.
Jadeja’s two five-fers in a single Test make him only the second Indian to achieve this feat against New Zealand, following R Ashwin, who accomplished this remarkable feat twice — against Australia in Chennai (2013) and South Africa in Nagpur (2015).
With this performance, Jadeja now joins an elite list of Indian bowlers with multiple 10-wicket hauls in Test cricket.
Here’s the list of Indian bowlers with the most 10-wicket hauls in Tests:
Anil Kumble – 8
R. Ashwin – 8*
Harbhajan Singh – 5
Ravindra Jadeja – 3*
Kapil Dev – 2
Irfan Pathan – 2
