How to watch Texas basketball vs. Ohio State: TV channel info, streaming, odds

Date:

No. 19 Texas basketball and head coach Rodney Terry open up the 2024-25 regular season in Las Vegas, NV, on Nov. 4 against the Ohio State Buckeyes. The Hall of Fame Series Las Vegas Opening Night matchup gets Terry and Texas a Quad 1 game out of the gates for their inaugural season in the SEC this year.

Texas has a rejuvenated roster with a half-dozen major conference and mid-major transfers, over half of which will get major starter or contributor level minutes in the rotation to make an immediate impact.

This season’s roster is the first time that the Longhorns have only players recruited by Terry and his staff. In his second year as the full-time Texas head coach, Terry doesn’t have any more Chris Beard-recruits on the roster, entering this 2024-25 season.

Arkansas grad transfer Tramon Mark, one of the seniors from the portal expected to make a huge impact on Texas’s scoring on the offensive end this season, is “uncertain” for the Ohio State game in the regular season opener due to an injury, Terry said to the media last week.

Here’s a look at the TV/streaming information, game time, betting odds, and game prediction for the regular season opener between No. 19 Texas and Ohio State at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV, on Nov. 4.

Texas is a 2.5-point favorite against Ohio State in the Las Vegas Opening Night game, and the Longhorns are favored in the money line (-156) over the Buckeyes (+130) (per FanDuel). The over/under is 146.5 points.

Texas’s starting five and, in general, the core part of the rotation could be impacted significantly if Mark is on a minutes restriction or misses the game due to an injury.

Terry and the Longhorns have one of the best and deepest guard and wing rotations in the SEC this season. Texas bolstered the guard and wing rotations with multiple immediate impact transfers this past spring.

Ohio State is a talented team that ranks in the top 30 in the preseason KenPom rankings for the 2024-25 campaign. Texas will have to score a lot of points and rebound the basketball effectively against an Ohio State team that has a lot of returning guard experience and length down low in the paint.

Give me Terry and the Longhorns prevailing to get an important regular season opener win in Las Vegas to kick off the full Year 2 under this staff on the right foot.

Score prediction: Texas-81, Ohio State-77
