West Lafayette police ask for public’s help in identifying man they say attacked a couple

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — West Lafayette police are asking for the public’s assistance in finding and identifying a man who allegedly attacked a couple Monday morning.

Police responded to the 500 block of Northwestern Avenue about 10 a.m. for a report of a battery, police said in a news release.

A man and a woman said they were battered by a white male wearing a dark jacket and a Colts baseball cap who attacked the couple as they were walking along the street in front Wang Hall, police said. Both victims received minor injuries as a result of the attack.

Witnesses told police the man had made “a strange comment about the world ending” before the attack, then ran from the scene.

Anyone with information regarding the attack or the man’s identity are asked to contact the West Lafayette Police Department at 765-775-5200. Tips may also be sent anonymously through the WeTip Hotline at 800-782-7463.
