Aaditya Thackeray Criticizes BJP Over Bangladesh Cricket Tour Amid Violence Allegations | Mumbai News – Times of India

Date:

Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray on Wednesday took a dig at the BJP-led central government over the Bangladesh cricket team’s visit to India and alleged attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh. Aaditya said he is keen to know from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) whether Hindus in Bangladesh faced violence in the past two months as per some reports. If this was true, then why is the BJP-run govt going so easy on the BCCI and allowing the tour?
“If no, then is the MEA ok with the constant social media and media stories about the violence in Bangladesh? Here their trolls are creating hate amongst ourselves as Indians, on the pretext of violence in another country – Bangladesh, while the BCCI is hosting that very Bangladesh team for cricket.I wonder why those who have actively campaigned against this violence don’t speak to the BCCI and ask questions? Or is it only about creating hate in India and election propaganda,” Aaditya said in a post on X.
“I don’t want to get into whether India and Bangladesh should play cricket in this country. But I want some information from the MEA whether Hindus have been oppressed in Bangladesh in the last two months or not. After the violence in Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina came to our country. Then many news channels or social media commented on the oppression of Hindus in Bangladesh. Temples are being destroyed in those places, children are being abused… All these news are going viral through WhatsApp and social media. Riots broke out in some places. After that, whatever BJP likes or their own self-styled Hindutva followers tried to create discord between Hindus and Muslims in our country. Because Hindus were oppressed in Bangladesh,” Aaditya said.
“The centre is ruled by BJP, BCCI is also run by BJP and social media of BJP are telling us that Hindus are being oppressed in Bangladesh. Meanwhile, the BJP-led BCCI has organised two tests and three T-20 matches with Bangladesh. What exactly do we mean? When elections come, BJP remembers Hindus and Hinduism. Is it to be understood that Hindus are being used by the BJP for elections?” Aaditya asked.
Aaditya also slammed the Centre and the Election Commission (EC) after the cabinet approved the”one nation one election’ panel report led by former president Ram Nath Kovind. Aaditya termed ‘one nation one election’ as a joke and slammed the EC, asking whether the EC can hold all elections simultaneously when it is not even able to hold the elections in the four states simultaneously. Aaditya also took a dig at the EC, alleging that it is acting on the BJP’s instructions and has no capacity to hold the simultaneous polls.
“I think ‘one nation one election’ is a joke. The union cabinet has approved the one nation and one election panel report but I think one nation one election is a joke for now. The EC can’t hold polls in the four states simultaneously. Assembly elections for Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir have been announced but what about assembly polls in Maharashtra and Jharkhand? Now the Delhi govt also wants to hold polls, but the EC can’t do it, is what we hear. The EC, which has no capacity to hold simultaneous polls in four states, is now talking about the one nation, one poll. Is this even possible? In Maharashtra, municipal elections have been pending for the past two years now but the BJP is scared of holding the polls. Which is why they are now talking about one nation one poll so that they can delay the elections further for some more time,” Aaditya said.
