Aaron Rodgers: Sunday’s game too little, too late but still special

Date:

Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams enjoyed a lot of big days together when they were teammates with the Packers, but they weren’t able to recapture that kind of success with the Jets until Sunday’s game in Jacksonville.

The Jaguars shut Adams out in the first half and led 13-7 at the break, but the second half belonged to the veteran wideout. Rodgers hit Adams nine times for 198 yards, including a career-long 71-yard touchdown and a 41-yard gain that set up Breece Hall’s game-winning touchdown run.

It was a vintage performance for the quarterback and his favorite target and Rodgers said that the Jets’ dire straits didn’t make it any less enjoyable.

“You know, it’s too little too late, but still, special, doesn’t taint it at all, doesn’t steal any of the joy, doesn’t take away any of the fun that’s going to be on the bus just now and then on the plane, and we have another bus back to the facility,” Rodgers said, via the team’s website.

Neither Rodgers nor Adams is sure to be back with the Jets in 2025, so Sunday’s outing might have served as an advertisement to other clubs about what remains in the tank for the two veterans.
