Abraham expected to start for Milan despite Morata boost

Date:

Tammy Abraham is expected to lead the line against Venezia when Serie A action returns on Saturday, despite coach Paulo Fonseca receiving a positive update regarding summer signing Alvaro Morata on Thursday.

Abraham expected to start in Milan-Venezia

Abraham is expected to earn his first Rossoneri start against Venezia on Saturday. He joined Milan on loan from Roma on deadline day, in a move that also saw Alexis Saelemaekers move in the other direction on a temporary basis.

The former England international was put straight into the matchday squad the day after his arrival, and came off the bench to provide an assist for Rafael Leao in the 2-2 draw with Lazio prior to the international break.

Despite having Luka Jovic available, Fonseca is expected to start Abraham against Venezia, according to reports from TMW and Corriere dello Sport.

Encouragingly for Fonseca, Morata also returned to full group training on Thursday. He could feature as a second-half substitute against Venezia and is also pushing for a start against Liverpool in the Champions League on Tuesday and against Inter in the derby next weekend.
