Some of the best upcoming cricket talents will be on show at the ACC T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024, taking place in Al Amarat, Oman from October 18 to 26.
The tournament will feature ‘A’ squads from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan while UAE, Oman, and Hong Kong China will compete with their regular sides.
The eight teams are divided into two groups of four teams each and will play each other in a round-robin format. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals.
India A is placed in Group B alongside Pakistan A, Oman, and UAE, while Group A includes Afghanistan A, Bangladesh A, Sri Lanka A, and Hong Kong China. All matches will be held at the Oman Cricket Academy Ground in Al Amarat.
Defending champions Pakistan A, known as the Pakistan Shaheens, will face India A on Saturday in a highly anticipated rematch of the 2023 final.
Though this is the sixth edition of the Asian cricket showpiece, it will be the first time that the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup will be played in the T20 format. All five previous editions followed the 50-over format.
India won the inaugural edition in 2013 while Sri Lanka won the two subsequent editions in 2017 and 2018. Pakistan Shaheens have emerged victorious in the two latest editions hosted in 2019 and 2023.
Last year, Pakistan A beat India A by 128 runs in the final at Colombo’s Premadasa Stadium to lift the trophy.
The group stage matches will run from October 18 to 23, with the semi-finals scheduled for October 25 and the final set for October 26.
